In January 2011, A crisis hit Egypt with the Alexandria bombing, and Coptic Orphans immediately replaced its urgent needs with appeals to meet the new need. Then came the Egypt revolution and events at Maspero.
Since the collapse of the infrastructure of the Mubarak regime, our participants have experienced break-ins and theft in their homes from criminals taking advantage of the lack of police presence, and with the military focused on larger matters.
To help fight this problem we put high priority in 2011on safety. We have been and will continue to be providing doors, locks, and windows to our children's homes who need them the most.

Mariam * Needs Electricity (ID #55954)
posted on Friday, December 3, 2010, updated on Monday, December 6, 2010
Mariam’s father used to work at a construction site, carrying large loads of sand and cement in rickety, old wheel barrel until he began suffering from cancer when he was no longer physically fit enough to do his job he was fired.
For one year Mariam’s family lived on practically nothing as the savings dwindled down being spent on his medical treatment.
In 2006 and at the age of thirty, he died, leaving his family without a home and with no financial security. Mariam’s twenty-five year old mother now cares for her two children: Mariam (five years old) and Kyrolo (two years old).
Since her husband's death, Mariam's mother has no income and is forced to live in a room of Mariam's grandparent's house. The decrepit house is made of red bricks and has little furniture. Mariam's family sleeps on the floor and has a barely functioning gas stove. They are currently using their neighbor’s electricity supply whenever they can. We want to help supply the family with a functioning stove, electricity, and a bed.
Mariam's family needs a generous contributor to cover the cost of electricity which is $250

Hannah* Needs Her Home Repaired (ID #55955)
posted on Friday, November 26, 2010, updated on Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Hannah along with her 5 brothers and sisters all share one room with their mother. Their father, who suffered from mental and psychological issues, destroyed most of their home. His brother killed him during one such episode when he saw Hanna's father hurting her. He left his wife and 6 children behind with nothing but a ruined home.
The children are also now suffering from psychological issues after witnessing their uncle murder their father in their own home.
Their home has no electrical supply, doors, or running water. There were two extra rooms before their father destroyed them.
Their mother is illiterate and is shunned by her community and family because of her husband’s mental illness and her children’s psychological issues.
We want to restore some balance into their life by helping Hannah and her family fix the destroyed rooms, water, and electricity that serve as a constant reminder of their late father’s rage.
Hannah's family needs a generous contributor to cover the cost of making these repairs in Hannah’s home because they have nothing to help contribute for themselves. The repairs will cost the equivalent of $680 USD.
