Serve to Learn: The Serve to Learn Journey in Four Steps

Step 1: Apply

• Fill out an application and submit it no later than April 1st.
• Write one essay on your interest in Serve to Learn
• Request one recommendation letter
• Fill out the recruitment survey
• Pay the $35 nonrefundable application fee

We will let you know whether you are accepted. Once accepted,

Step 2: Prepare.

• Pay the $375 program fee.
• Complete forms with personal information.
• Secure a visa to Egypt.
• Submit a photocopy of your passport.
• Receive necessary vaccinations.
• Arrange for transportation to Egypt.
• Complete assignments which will prepare you for your service that we provide. Assignments cover cross-cultural understanding, conducting activities in English as a foreign language, classroom management, and other relevant topics that will equip you to go.
• Prepare spiritually for service to God’s children.
• Think about creative activities in English for the children.
• Get friends and family to sponsor your trip.

Step 3: Go.

• Attend a one day orientation in Cairo.
• Carry yourself in a culturally appropriate manner.
• Maintain a journal, and take pictures of your experience.
• Spend your mornings teaching English to children and your evenings visiting children in their homes.

Step 4: Share Your Experience.

• Attend a debriefing session in Cairo and give us your feedback.
• Submit journals and photos.
• Share your experience with friends, family, and others.
