Serve to Learn
Serve
to Learn is for the adventurous, the hardy, and the
determined. After all, it’s a journey of a lifetime,
and anything can happen along the way.
When you become a Serve to Learn volunteer,
you travel to Egypt for a predetermined three weeks
of the summer at one of several sites throughout Egypt:
from bustling metropolises along the Mediterranean
coast and Nile delta to the rugged villages deep in
the heart of Egypt. Bishops from the Coptic Orthodox
Church in Egypt offer hospitality to all of our volunteers
for the duration of the journey.
At the site to which you are assigned,
you will inspire vulnerable children by teaching English
and experience firsthand the injustices of child poverty
by visiting the children you teach in their own homes.
A Journey of Change and Discovery
Volunteers who have made the Serve
to Learn journey say that above all they return home
with a new perspective on life. They return home
enriched by their cross-cultural exchanges, enhanced
by their teaching experiences, and transformed by
their encounters with children who possess so much
love and joy despite the comparative little that
they possess materially.
As a volunteer, you will receive so
much more than you give. Yet just as they touch your
life, you will also touch the children’s lives
when they see that you care so much about giving
them confidence and opportunity that you are willing
to travel from around the world to be with them.
