New Developments - The Transformation of Not Alone
In 2005, a landmark occurred in the history
of Coptic Orphans. Volunteer Reps, staff, and other
participants gathered and democratically voted to change
the name of the Child Assistance Program to Not Alone
to better reflect what the program means for those
children, volunteers, and others who participate, and
to set the stage for the program’s transformation.
The transformation of Not Alone is now
underway. We will continue the traditional accomplishments
of Not Alone in provide basic necessities such as food,
clothing, and shelter and helping each child reach
age-appropriate literacy, but now add a holistic approach
based upon our years of experience working with vulnerable
children in Egypt.
Now, Not Alone will also increasingly focus
upon the development and empowerment of
the child before and during formal education.
Development and empowerment mean
taking control over ones life, setting one’s
agenda, gaining skills, enhancing self confidence,
solving one’s problems and developing self-reliance.
The goal of the transformation is not only
to help every child survive and succeed, but also to
develop an integrated, balanced personality, and be
able to interact with the community and address the
challenges of the era.
We want not only to give every child the
tools for breaking the cycle of poverty, but become
change-makers in their communities.
We’ll keep you in touch periodically

Alone and other new developments at Coptic
