Snapshot from the Field: Reps as Advocates

In Upper Egypt, A Rep instills values and reinforces workshop learning during a home visit.

Coptic Orphans Reps are local volunteers who connect children to resources like food, clothing, health, education, and housing in the households of paternal orphans and widows. But to break the cycle of poverty, they also help children expand their horizons and serve as their advocates with family, school, and local government. Just like in this story.

About Nathan Hollenbeck

Nathan joined Coptic Orphans in 2006. It was his response to a call to help return Egypt’s hospitality to the Holy Family on behalf of Christ Emmanuel and the Theotokos, after they changed his own life as a youth. He has a passion to fulfill God’s command to “bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” (Isaiah 1:17, ESV)
