Adequate Housing: The Emergency Housing Fund of
Not Alone
Mary: From Hut to Home
Mary
is 5 years old and has 3 older sisters. Her father
use to work as a guard for construction projects
in the desert, where they all lived (right). When
the father died he left them with no protection.
The mother feared for her daughters and was afraid
to send them to school since they have to walk through
the desert alone. They didn't have a door or even
a bathroom. They were forced to use the outdoors
as a bathroom. It was estimated the renovations to
their new home would cost $3,200.
Today, Mary has a new
home thanks to the support of donors who contributed
to this project.
Nora: A Narrow Escape

Nora and her family used
to live in two rooms on the second floor. With sagging
mud walls and fragile support, The floor of their
bedrooms threatened to collapse any moment.

With a contribution from
Nora’s sponsor and the work of Coptic Orphans,
the first floor was renovated. Mud brick walls were
replaced with cemented painted walls to re-enforce
the upper floor. The family moved into the newly
renovated rooms. “The family is so grateful
to Nadia [their sponsor] for her loving support,” Nora’s
Rep reported.
