Program Associate – Fairfax, VA

The Program Associate plays an important role in supporting the monitoring and evaluation processes in the Programs Department to assist in furthering the organization’s mission and reach to support its participants.  Among the programs to be supported are: Not Alone, the Valuable Girl Project, B'edaya, and potentially others. This position offers a great potential for career growth for an inquisitive professional with strong analytical skills and a strong research background.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor implementation of programs and projects and report on major milestones and achievements as well as areas needing further evaluation and/or adjustments.
  2. Participate in developing qualitative and quantitative indicators to help measure outcomes.
  3. Undertake data assimilation, analysis, and reporting for evaluation purposes.
  4. Update program materials and maintain the Arabic and English versions of program manuals.
  5. Maintain projects’ databases to include tracking, recording, analyzing, and communicating findings in reports.
  6. Travel to the Egypt field office to monitor activities approximately 2 months a year.
  7. Coordinate assembly of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports as needed or appropriate.
  8. Assist in research and other program-related activities.
  9. Develop, write, and review grant proposals, narratives, and financial reports to fund organization’s future initiatives.
  10. Perform other related functions and tasks as necessary.

Knowledge and Skill:
 
  1. MA in international development, education, or closely related field.
  2. Minimum 2 years work experience in monitoring and evaluation of human development programs.
  3. Strong analytical and research skills.
  4. Results-oriented with creative problem-solving skills
  5. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks/projects efficiently and effectively.
  6. Ability to take initiative, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines. 
  7. A team player with excellent cross-cultural written and oral communication skills.
  8. Fluency in English and Arabic — written as well as spoken.
  9. Knowledge of transformational development values and techniques.

Extent of Public Contact (within and outside of the organization)

  1. Extensive contact with Egypt office.
  2. Occasional attendance of public events.
  3. Contacts with potential funding entities.
     

Physical Demands (walking, lifting, carrying, etc.)

Typical office environment in addition to some domestic travel; limited to sitting, typing, using phone and office equipment, walking, driving, and occasional lifting of boxes and luggage during travel.  Occasional international travel. 

Working Conditions and Environment:

  1. Will be required to work after hours and/or weekends when necessary. 
  2. Must be available to travel to Egypt.
