In
mid-June, local volunteers organized the first Host and Help
event in California.
The
proceeds benefited a serious cause, but the evening really was just
about all fun and games. To start the evening off, guests enjoyed watching
a game for the favorite local basketball team, the LA Lakers. At various
stations people competed at their own games with ping-pong and foosball.
At the end of the evening, the hosts of the event held a raffle competition
with a grand prize that also means fun and games: a brand new Nintendo
Wii entertainment system.
The
entire evening used donated items: local grocery stores donated
food and snacks, and another local institution donated the dinner.
Even the
venue for the event was hosted in the clubhouse of the volunteers’ local
housing development.
As
fun and inexpensive as it was for the volunteers to organize and host,
the results were astounding. About 70 friends and acquaintances enjoyed
a donated dinner followed by a presentation by two visiting Coptic Orphans
staff about the work of Coptic Orphans for children in Egypt. The evening
raised $2,000 in all for the children in Egypt.
Coptic
Orphans congratulates all the volunteers who organized this event and
made it such a smashing success, particularly Mariam and Martha Girguis,
Kathy Makarom, and Chris Habashy.
The
evening really shows that anyone can organize a truly successful Host
and Help event and have fun doing it.
Host and Help is a way that sponsors
can invite others to get involved in the vital work of Coptic Orphans
by inviting
their
friends, family,
co-workers, and others to an event at their home. Coptic Orphans
provides our expert guidance and even a Coptic Orphans speaker if
you have more
than 50 people at your event.
